As the NAIA Flag Football women are nearing the end of the regular season schedule and nearing tournament time, some very familiar faces are playing very good flag football. Sunday's 38-7 win over Midland University was just the latest example of why teams heading to Kansas City in May can expect the Ottawa Braves to be the favorite to win national title number five. The win makes them 12-0 on the season.
The Ottawa women return star quarterback Madysen Carrera and that alone is enough to make them a favorite to repeat for a fifth time as NAIA Women's Flag Football National Champions. Carrera was her normal dominant self on Sunday, completing 23 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns.
However, she wasn't alone when it came to notable performances as Susann Kaufmann had a dominant day on defense and won the Kansas Collegiate Athletics Conference Defensive Player of the week. The redshirt senior from Staten Island recorded nine flag pulls, along with a sack, a pbu, and an interception for a touchdown.
All this being said, the NAIA Women's Flag Football finals will still be a very competitive event as other teams across the nation have begun to flex their muscle too. The Keiser Seahawks recently posted an 89-0 victory in NAIA play so if Ottawa is going to five-peat, they will have to earn it!
